July 11, Day 193 of 2012

Today is day 193 of 2012

On this day in 1899, E.B. White, the author of the popular children’s novels Charlotte’s Web, Stuart Little and The Trumpet of the Swan, was born in Mount Vernon, New York. White, a longtime contributor to The New Yorker magazine who was known for his graceful, witty prose, also updated and expanded The Elements of Style, an English usage guide that remains a standard text for many high school and college students.

Big Ben, the great bell inside the famous London clock tower, chimed for the first time on this day in 1859.

In 1977 the Medal of Freedom was awarded posthumously to the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. in a White House ceremony.

If you want to finish “the” manuscript in 2012, you still have 173 days left.
